Full Description:

Orlando Garden Club has been actively improving the Central Florida environment since 1926. The organization serves many purposes in the community, but its roots are in the protection and nourishment of the environment. The men and women who join the Orlando Garden Club do so to stimulate and increase their knowledge of the many aspects of gardening. The protection of native plants and wildlife also is a major objective, as well as encouraging civic planting to better and beautify Central Florida's tomorrow.

Special events dot our calendar throughout the year. One of our major annual events is the Flower Show, which has won state and national awards for excellence. Christmas Tree Lane is a special event in which members and community vendors display their goods that include handmade gifts, baked goods, and landscape and garden plants. Proceeds from our events benefit students through scholarships. Other events include card parties, fashion show, and much more.

Monthly general membership meetings are held from September through May on the 3rd Friday of each month. The meetings include educational and entertaining guests speakers discussing current topics. The program is then usually followed with a luncheon for members and their guests.

Because of its many members, the garden club is divided into "circles." Some circles may represent a geographic area, making it easier for members to meet, exchange ideas and visit one another. Most of the circles have their group meetings once monthly during daylight hours, yet there are also two evening circles available. Additionally, there are committees which meet on a regular basis to accomplish established goals. And there is also a horticulture study group meeting on the 4th Wednesday of the month. No matter what your individual interest, there are programs and activities that will excite you. And you can do it along with friends - both old and new.

If you love gardening and wildlife. If you desire to increase your knowledge about nature. If you want a better environment. The Orlando Garden Club is the organization for you.
